Downtown Boone, c. 1904

Boone, North Carolina, circa 1904

This image, from the archives of the Historic Boone society, may be one of the (if not the…) oldest extant photographs of the Town of Boone. The handwritten notation on the reverse of the original simply indicates “Boone c. 1904”.

Stay tuned for further (semi-regular!) features on the history of the Blue Ridge Parkway, in honor of its 75th Anniversary (observed), both here and in the newspaper publications of High Country Media: the Watauga Democrat, the Mountain Times, and the Blowing Rocket.
